Supports to prevent migrant workers’ accidents

KOSHA has been working hard to prevent migrant workers’ accidents through: developing and disseminating OSH media content and training as well as giving technological support and consulting. The agency also cooperates with related organizations to train migrant workers. In that sense, KOSHA shares some information on its major projects, a series of media content and useful websites for preventing migrant workers’ accidents.

1. Major projects

① immediate support to work places where accidents occur

Providing basic information on causes of the accident after analysis and giving risk assessment consulting provided by experts including foreign inspectors to maintain an objective view.

② Patrol training

Providing in-depth support to work places where migrant workers’ accidents take place

③ Technological support for preventing machinery accidents

Supporting migrant workers to receive man-to-man training in inspecting safety of dangerous machinery

④ OPL(One Point Lesson) to prevent basic accidents

Providing Korean-Chinese workers who are working mostly in the restaurant, and retail and wholesale sectors with a series of OPL: OPL for basic accidents prevention (in Chinese); OPL for occupational accidents cases; OPL for mentoring employers.

⑤ OSH training with ‘Visiting Bus’

Providing ‘Visiting Bus’ service to work places that hire more than 10 migrant workers while giving the service to those with less than 10 migrant workers as well if they request for the service.

 

2. Media content developed by KOSHA

KOSHA develops media content to prevent migrant workers’ accidents and update them on its website. The content is served in various languages by types of the content: books, posters, stickers and leaflets. Users can download them for training.
