KOSHA moves to prevent fall accidents reported in the top five service industries: building management; restaurant and catering services; transportation, storage and communication; human health and social work activities; wholesale and retail trading industry.

They witnessed raised number of accidents by May, year-on-year, with 505 cases in the building management; 436 cases in the restaurant and catering service; 256 cases in the transportation, storage and communication industry; 245 cases in the human health and social work activities; 191 cases in the wholesale and retail trading industry. The most frequent types of accidents are fall for all of them.

In that sense, KOSHA decided to carry out technical assistance and other services to prevent this type of accident. Under the technical assistance KOSHA would give specific training sessions to high risk workplaces or those with frequent accidents. Meanwhile, KOSHA also plans to carry out activities to raise awareness of the management of workplaces that have experienced accidents more than three times over the last three years.

In addition, KOSHA provides multifaceted efforts to prevent accidents including ‘safety commitment’ signing campaigns, giving fall risk alarms based on the weather, safety guidelines and cooperation with related occupation associations.

A person from KOSHA said “This intensive assistance would help reduce accidents in the service industry.”
