KOSHA publishes Occupational Safety and Health System for multinational companies

 Dec. 27 2013

KOSHA (headed by President Baek Hun-ki) has published Occupational Safety and Health System in a bid to help Korean companies make inroads into overseas markets.

Occupational Safety and Health System provides Korean companies with comprehensive information on the occupational safety and health (OSH) of 10 Asian countries that many Korean companies have entered: China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Mongolia, Laos, and Cambodia.

The information includes each nation’s OSH management system, requirements in regard to reporting industrial accidents, legal framework for OSH training, inspection and safety certification system, medical check-up system for workers, and system regarding work environment monitoring and chemical substances.

In addition, Occupational Safety and Health System also provides an overview of local industrial accidents, labor-management disputes, local administrative bodies that can help Korean companies in overseas markets, the bilateral trade volume with Korea and current economic status of each nation. Occupational safety and health laws of each nation, application forms for licensing, and report forms for industrial accidents are also available in the appendix section.

Occupational Safety and Health System consists of 10 books, each of which is dedicated to one of the 10 Asian countries. It is a compilation of all the OSH materials that KOSHA has published on the countries since 2011.

? An official at KOSHA said, “Occupational Safety and Health System has been published in cooperation with OSH institutions overseas that have technical cooperation agreements with KOSHA. We selected the countries where Korean companies lack access to the OSH information.” He added, “We hope the latest publication will help Korean companies enter overseas markets.”
