We will redouble our efforts to usher in a bright future

for occupational safety and health with a fresh perspective.

Jan. 2, 2014

Ladies and gentlemen,

I wish you and your families all the health and happiness. May all your dreams and wishes come true in this New Year.

2014 is the year of the blue horse according to the Chinese zodiac. As the fastest animal men can ride on, horses had long been the best means of transportation for mankind. They are also known as courageous animals that fought alongside their owners on the battlefields. In the Kingdom of Goryeo, Koreans used horses as an important means of communication. During the Joseon Dynasty, undercover emissaries of the king, assigned to facilitate communication with the people and observe their lives, carried a symbol engraved with horses.

This year our goal is to reduce the industrial accident rate, the death rate per 10,000 populations, and the rate of occupational diseases per 10,000 populations by 5% on a year-on-year basis.

In the year of the horse, KOSHA will embrace these characteristics of horses such as movement (swift response), change, communication, and courage to do our utmost to secure safety and health at workplaces. In so doing, we will contribute to addressing the economic crisis in Korea and laying a strong foundation for future growth.

KOSHA will soon relocate its headquarters to Ulsan.

All the executives and employees of KOSHA will redouble efforts with a fresh perspective so that safety culture can take firm root in Korea, beginning in the industrial capital of Ulsan.

Thank you.

KOSHA President Baek, Hun-Ki
