Systemized prevention of OSH at construction site

 

Daewoo E&C achieved certificates and plaque with establishment of its OSHMS for construction industry from President LEE, young-soon of Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) on 24th July at headquarters of the company, located in Seoul metropolitan city.

 

KOSHA-18001 for construction industry - advanced safety management method, certified by KOSHA and issued to corporate which established its systematic OSHMS.

To install advanced OSHMS in the company, it applied for the KOSHA certification in Feb. 2014 and completed the system after two years and four months.

Upon the first application, Daewoo E&C set up OSH activity system participated by the headquarters including 150 construction sites and suppliers, and KOSHA provided audits and consulting for Daewoo.

For this system, more than 30,000 employees from headquarters (6,000) and suppliers (25,000) have joined.

Daewoo opened OSH executive department under CEO for efficient system, set forth of OSH management policy and comprehensive OSH activity line embracing decision-making divisions and sites.

The established systems are as follows:

-      Manage OSH compliance of site supervisor and manager

-      Analysis and improvement of accident type and cause with high risk

-      Provide advantages to OSHMS acquired suppliers

-      Operate Safety Cornerstone; safety training program for newly recruited employees

-      Development of mobile application One touch HSE-Q

Above OSHMS related activities enabled OSH management for work-sites and suppliers.

Meanwhile, in total 128 companies including Daewoo E&C, 16 order holding organization, 27 general construction companies and 85 professional construction companies have been certified so far.

The president LEE, young-soon said at the ceremony that “recently OSH is being essential part of companies’ competitiveness,” and “KOSHA will do our best to expand advanced OSHMS to more workplaces.”
