KOSHA (headed by President Back Hun-ki) opened Gangwon Dongbu Area Office in Gangneung-si and held an opening ceremony on April 10, spurring accident prevention activities. As Gangwon Dongbu Area Office opens, more than 200,000 workers and about 30,000 businesses in 10 sis and guns including Gangneung-si and Pyeongchang-gun will benefit through the technical assistance in a timely manner. Recently, the number of workers and businesses has increased consistently and the infrastructure for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games such as stadiums, roads, and accommodations has been under construction in this area In addition, as a Samcheok LNG production plant?expected to be completed 2017?and a Samcheok Green power plant?expected to be completed in 2016?are under construction, preparatory measures are required to prevent occupational accidents. Health management for workers at the cement manufacturing industry and anthracite mining stations?which account for 60% of national output?in this area is necessary to be taken care of when it comes to the noise and vibration. For this reason, KOSHA opened Gangwon Dongbu Area Office and focuses on developing occupational accident prevention activities including timely technical assistance to large construction worksites and health management for workers’ in the cement manufacturing industry, etc. President Baek Hun-ki of KOSHA said that “As KOSHA promotes and concentrates on ‘workplace-focused’ and ‘timeliness’ this year, I have high expectations that the new Gangwon Dongbu Area Office will contribute to raising efficiency in occupational accident prevention through the close technical assistance in a timely manner.” |
