KOSHA strengthens OSH network in Asia by signing MOU with OSH-related organizations of China and Hong Kong President Hun-ki Baek of KOSHA decided to set a close relationship with State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) of China and Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC) of Hong Kong to promote prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses in the Asian region. *State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) -a national organization that conducts inspection and management of safety and health in China * Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC) -a government funded organization established in 1988 to protect workers’ safety and health in Hong Kong Since then, Rak-moon Baek, Director General for Planning of KOSHA extended the MOU on May 21, signed back in 2010, and discussed China’s joining of the ISSA’s section for a culture of prevention in which KOSHA serves as a chair organization. On May 23, he moved to Hong Kong to visit OSHC and signed MOU with Conrad Wong, the chairman of OSH, on exchanges of OSH training and experts, technical consulting, information sharing and joint researches. Director General Baek said that these visits would help KOSHA play a leading role in Asia in promoting occupational safety and health, adding that he didn’t forget to encourage those organizations to join the 2015 ICOH Congress held in Seoul, Korea.
