Workers’ medical center opens in Bucheon The center provides medical service free of charge for workers in SMEs with fewer than 50 workers Medical center that cares workers’ health opens in Bucheon to provide health care programs and help the workers prevent occupational illnesses, free of charge. President Hun-ki Baek joined the opening ceremony of the center located in Ojeong-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi province on May 20. The Bucheon Workers’ Medical Center would serve workers working at small-sized work places in Bucheon Industrial Complex. Major services are: consulting on occupational diseases and work-related stress; assessing job suitability; dealing with musculoskeletal disorders, provided by psychology counselors, nurses, occupational physicians, occupational hygiene experts and physical therapists. The services provided by the center are available for those who are working at small sized work places regardless of types of work they are in. The center also gives visit for workers to receive a series of services once employers apply for the training or counseling service for their workers. Further, workers can use the center after the work. The first Workers’ Medical Centers open in Incheon, Gwangju, and Siheung in 2011 followed by two more in Daegu and Ghangwon. This year, the number of centers will reach 10 as 5 more have opened this year alone including the Bucheon center.
