MOU to create a healthy workplace

The occupational safety and health protecting organization and folks’ health care organization move together this time.

KOSHA signed MOU with Korea Health Promotion Foundation to speed up the『workers’ health improvement movement』.

<Summary of the MOU>

-venue: 8^th floor of the Korea Health Promotion Foundation’s building

-participants: president of KOSHA, president of the KHPF and other people concerned

 KHPF is one of affiliated organizations of the Ministry of Welfare while KOSHA is an affiliated organization of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the organization focused on preventing occupational accidents.

The main subjects of this MOU are to work together to find ways to promote workers’ health in an effective way; develop supporting programs such as anti-smoking program and anti-drinking program, as part of efforts under the Health plan 2020 of the Ministry of Welfare.

Both organizations are setting up a ‘culture of promoting health’ based on the content above.

As of last year 5,655 cases of occupational illnesses were reported such as cerebral and cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal disorders and mental illnesses due to work-related stress, among which 301 workers died.

A person from KOSHA said “as KOSHA has been running 『Best Enterprise Rewards System』 and providing fiscal assistance to promote workers’ health to workplaces with less than 300 workers since last year, this signing of MOU would help the culture of promoting workers’ health spread across all of the work places”.
