For major accident prevention, Private organizations for occupational accident prevention join efforts KOSHA and 300 private organizations reaffirmed determination for the major accident prevention Discussing strengthening supports for occupational accident prevention in workplaces May 8, 2014 An event to prevent major accidents with concerted efforts of private organizations was held. KOSHA (headed by President, Baek, Hun-ki) held a resolution meeting including debate forums with some 300 domestic private organizations for occupational accident prevention to prevent major accidents in KINTEX located in Ilsan, on Wednesday, May 7. The purpose of the event was to join resources of private organizations for occupational accident prevention mainly working on the site; to prevent major accidents by increasing efficiency; and to enhance effectiveness of occupational accident prevention. In the resolution meeting, some 300 participants including Jung Hyun-ok, vice-minister of Ministry of Employment and labor, Baek Hun-ki, president of KOSHA, and representatives of private organizations for occupational accident prevention including Korea Safety Technology Association and Korean Association of Occupational Health Nurses reaffirmed determination to be committed to finding risk factors in workplaces, supporting to establish voluntary safety system in workplaces and disseminating practical culture of occupational accident prevention. On the other hand, five panel discussions in terms of ‘safety’, ‘health’, ‘construction’, ‘chemistry’, and ‘education’ followed the resolution meeting. Each agenda of the discussion includes: measures for reinforcing private consignment, measures for occupational disease prevention and health care, measures for occupational accident reduction on small construction sites, measures for chemical accident prevention, and measures for activation of private safety education markets respectively. Some 23 occupational accident prevention experts from private associations, academia, and companies actively participated in the panel discussions on practical measures to prevent major accidents and reduce occupational accidents. Baek, Hun-ki, president of KOSHA said, “This year, occupational accident prevention projects are focused on being carried out in a more workplace-oriented and timely manner. By doing so, I hope that major accidents are prevented and the effect of occupational accidents prevention is maximized in cooperation with private organizations for occupational accident prevention.”
