Members of the Accredited Standards Committee Z365 met in Los Angeles,
Oct. 29-30, to discuss the commentary of 150 organizations and hundreds
of individuals who responded to the proposed standard on control of work
-related cumulative trauma disorders. The public comment period ended in
July.

Last spring, the committee voted to approve the draft by more than a three
-to-one margin. The National Safety Council is a volunteer secretariat to
the committee, which is accredited by the American National Standards
Institute and comprises representatives from business, labor, academia
and professional groups.

The committee is now deciding how to address requested changes. According
to Terry Miller, secretariat of the committee, the proposed standard cannot
be submitted to ANSI for approval until the committee addresses the public
comments. If the draft requires substantive changes, the committee would
have to vote its approval of the altered draft. This version also would be
